Outreach and Volunteering

CCTM Open House

Robotics students participated in volunteering at the CCTM Open-House at TJ which provided a dynamic showcase of CCT and STEM based classes. The even highlights a range of courses including computer science, robotics, web design, animation and more. Visitors and future robotics students were able to gain a firsthand understanding of practical applications of robotics by exploring the dynamic of our team and even text-driving some of our robots.  Our team members were able to engage with families to discuss the benefits of our robotics course such as the strengthening of creativity, teamwork and critical thinking skills. Inspiring future generations of students is one of the many ways our robotics students contribute to the stability and success of our team.

8th-Grade Career Fair

We attended an engaging outreach event to inspire and educate 8th graders about our robotics program. During the event, we showcased our innovative robot, providing hands-on experience for the students. We passionately shared our knowledge and discussed the intricacies of designing, building, programing the robot. Through interactive demonstrations and information presentations, the 8th graders gained valuable insights into the world of robotics and the exciting opportunities available at Thomas Jefferson High School.

Trick Or Treat Street

Trick-Or-Treat Street was a fun way for TJ Robotics students to give back to the community around TJ. We set up a candy booth in the TJ parking lot for little kids from the nearby neighborhood to come-by and have some fun for Halloween.

Robotics Demo at Hamilton Middle School

TJ Robotics students took a trip to Hamilton Middle School to pitch our robotics course to the middle school students there. AJO, one of our FRC robots was brought along for demonstrations, once again inspiring future robotics students and opening up the opportunity for engineering exploration, that is available for their high school experience.

Girl Scouts

TJ Robotics students collaborate with Girl Scouts to inspire the future generation of STEM students. Girl Scouts are able to visit our workshop and experience with circuit boards to gain insight into wiring, drive VEX robots, and learn about our FRC robot. This opens up their eyes to creativity and future opportunities that are available to them. Overall the Girl Scouts have given us positive feedback on the event and expressed their interest in robotics for their future.
